This new gen of people may find it little odd to read this following phrases / sentences. But its true. I am not quite sure about who invented proper Indian Attire(s), to begin with. I have my own ways to look at it. Proper Indian Attire includes, for men, especially, a kind of hat to cover head (mostly made up of cotton), “kamcha”, a small piece of cloth around their neck, “bandi”, a pure cotton T-shirt having few pockets of different size, “payjamas / dhoti / pant”, again generally made of cotton based material etc. Take any part of India, any state, generally this or similar attire was designed and used, generations ago. Now villages and old gen of people staying in cities still prefer to use these traditional attires. For women, it was mostly sari or suit, with “pallu” on head.
Those who invented, designed, thought-about or suggested this combination of attire, according to me, had a great vision. In today’s hot weather everywhere in India, not only restricted to summers, but runs through generally 8-9 months in a year, this attire is very suitable. Head cover for all living beings is utmost important. We hear lots of stories about sun-burn, skin allergies, skin infections and other diseases for which exposure to Sun is the main concern. With the above mentioned attire, there was no scope to expose head to Sun, in addition to giving respects to elders. I am not at all saying that by having “pallu” on head, only shows respect to elders, but yes, you check any religion for that matter, everywhere covering head has given great deal of importance. We observe that our Muslim, Punjabi friends still do respect the tradition by using traditional suggested outfits. Even hair quality is maintained if you cover your head. Exposure to pollution around and to some extent stress gave rise to hair problems.
Being fashionable, following trends from other countries is essential, also keep in mind weather conditions of our beloved country and then dress up. Not the youngistan, but with age and profession, choosing suggested attire is thinkable.
