Graduation (translated from marathi)

 Translation by Google baba:

Graduate is a word that is used regularly and of course I also knew the meaning of this word. A person holding a degree, be it in any field like Commerce, Science, Arts etc. But after school education, the one who completed 3-4 years course in the university and earned it with hard work. It was my misconception that almost everyone is aware of only this meaning of the phrase graduation, but which is no more true and I had to add new meanings to my Vocab.

A friend of mine sent me some photos with appreciation and the title was a photo of her son’s graduation. I was stunned for a few seconds and literally said that her son has never been so big. And while I was thinking about it, I started looking at the photos, the same graduation hat, the rope on one side, the gown etc. It was the graduation ceremony photos as her beloved son stepped up from U-KG to first standard, a big function organized at school, here in Pune.

After that, while talking to a friend of mine who is settled in America, he said that next Saturday we have a big party, about 100 people will come. The occasion is their "daughter's graduation". I once again had a mountain of questions, when did his daughter grow up? Then I realized that she passed 12th with flying colors. In the United States, it is customary to say that after the 12th standard, at the age of 18, the children become independent and graduate.

My little poor brain, got to learn something new and I have to keep learning, isn't it?

Now, stepping into first standard in a small school from kinder garden is like getting a degree? I did not know these newly added steps. And yes, these are just the degrees on piece of paper. By the way, most of the people who come in contact with the us are constantly conferring a lot of titles on the face or on the back. Collect papers and all other degrees, give importance to some, throw away many while achieving various objectives, learn a lot and live with self-respect and happiness.
