Unlearn..

A sudden and new thought popped up this morning, about the film industry actors. To portray one character on the sliver screen, the artist needs to enter the skin of that character, right? And these days the movies are made within no time. The artist these days are multi-talented, with great dancing skills, dialog delivery, some of them opt to sing also in the same movie and what not. So once the shooting of the movie is over and the next one begins, artists need to unlearn dialogs, dance-steps, character-details etc. otherwise entering the new role will be difficult. Constant unlearning pays for these artists,I guess.

On the contrary, we the teachers, constantly need to learn something new, especially to update the knowledge of booming IT world, to maintain the pace with new gen students, to create a niche place in international market for the students and the institute, to be a part of rigorous research activities and what not, only learning will help us sustain.

For human beings both learning and unlearning go hand in hand, "learn" occupies the most space in the word "unlearn" and these two are the constant activities / part-of-life always. But still the two professionals mentioned here were good examples of specific type and hence jotted it down.

Do you know any other profession which requires focused unlearning? Pl suggest.
