Style of writing in mother tongue

So there is my favorite column in local daily newspaper and I make it a point to read it. Its popularly called as "letters from readers". Basically regular readers of that newspaper put forward their thoughts after reading the news / article published recently. Selected few get the place in this column on editorial page. And I love to read all of them. One such letter was on style of writing in mother tongue. The writer / author-of-that-letter was trying to say that if the news paper is in Marathi, entire news should be in Marathi only. The journalist have no rights to mix the popular or usual or common words from English or Hindi in it, its as good as insult of journalism and that local language too.

After reading his reply, I started with my thought process, being a blogger myself and here is what popped up instantly in my mind:

  • with the advent of social media and its popularity, mixing of language is becoming very very common
  • but yes, it cannot be applied when news articles are written
  • journalists should be careful and use available online tools as helping hand to know the synonyms word(s) in that destination language
  • its ok to mix-n-match or play around with languages while blogging
  • if the readers of your blog are young, belonging to this new generation then ulta they prefer such mix
  • they connect well with blogs and its contents
  • they feel connected easily with articles from such mixed language

Dont know why but I like / prefer to write sometimes with mixed / assorted / diverted language as everyone may not be conversant with their mother tongue and a few specific words and hence they may feel difficult to connect with me, my thoughts. And hence I try sometimes new assorted words ka recipe, as I feel young and connected.
