Being a teacher myself, today I thoroughly enjoyed listening to extremely innovative enormous concepts
implemented by the Sonam Wangchuk. He is completely unbelievable. I was only
aware a bit about him, via a reference made in "3-idiots" movie. He stated
many many concepts, not only from India but outside countries too.
a) In Finland all kids go to only Government School, there is absolutely no
private school concept. Hence all the Government Schools standards are very
high.
b) In Bhutan, from past 60 years or so, very recently, something changed
drastically related to schooling. All Government school's face changed
completely. In 80's when Prince & Princess went to school, the books,
curriculum, pedagogy, desk, bench, wall color, etc. every thing changed to the
best.
c) In Bhutan, teachers get paid 40% more than other professionals.
d) He wish to start a new university concept in India, especially in
Maharashtra, where students will not pay fees, but will get paid. For ex. He
wish to start "hotel management" course where hotel will be run by
students, so that they will learn practically. This applies to all courses too.
Salutes to him, unbelievable indeed.
