In recent past, I had the privilege to listen to the CEO of one of the verticals from a top-notch IT company. During his speech he said that he and his mom used to play with pebbles and stones in their front yard regularly. While doing so and while throwing stones to the tree / tree-base in the vicinity, his mom explained and introduced him to the concept of speed, speed, distance and in general math. Playful way and such simple practical approaches used made a long-lasting impression and clarity about the topics. It not only created an interest in math, but also the entire process of teaching / learning, pedagogy etc. Wow, that was amazing to hear from him.
I still recollect constantly spending time on guava tree, handling cotton for making various things at home, planting / experimenting with my own watermelon in my garden, plucking mehendi leaves to make paste and then design, using specific type / shape of stone-like structures for making / grinding chutney and what not. This list is really endless.
I felt fascinated when one of my new gen relative’s kids screamed on top of his voice when he came to know that goat exists as animal in real life too. As he always saw or learn G for Goat using pictures in books only.
Current generation is born in an era where everything is literally virtual. And hence for them virtual reality is more real than actual reality, fortunately or unfortunately.
