"On-the-way-friends"

One fine morning, I have heard someone calling me "Hello Mam". I thought it was for me, but, was not expecting such polished "Hello Mam" from someone for me, early morning. So stopped to see, who it was. Surprised to know that one of my "On-the-way-smile-friends", a school going girl (7th std), started interacting directly with me.

Her narration: "Mam, this is my last day here, I am leaving for Hadapsar area now, this was my mami's place, now I am shifting to my parent's place, I was here for school education, as there was no good school around my parent's place till date and now its there.................". Breathless. We really have very less time in the morning and I dont know why she thought of sharing all these things with me.

I was, really surprised to

A)  see/hear her polished English,

B) consistency in using proper grammar and simple words,

C) dare to talk to strangers,

D) asking me where I stay, and what not.

I was trying to converse in Marathi, as the school which she is / was in is Semi-English school, but all her replies were in English. Congratulated her, invited her at my place etc. and bid her goodbye.
