“White Wednesdays (WW)”

In this tiny write-up I am sharing only my views / my way of looking at things, with due respect to all the rituals at place, set / fixed by our ancestors. Ancestors must be having their thought process behind it, and I am absolutely not denying that. But what is visible to my eyes and what I am thinking about it is poured here from the bottom of my heart.

So WW is one such concept followed or suggested for young aspiring girls in India and in Maharashtra as I am not aware of other states. Few Wednesdays in a row need to be observed by a young girl, it may start really early in their life sometimes, and the girl needs to wear only whites on those Wednesdays, eat only white food throughout the day etc. such 11 / 21 WW to follow, so that the girl will get a very good husband. And this is only one ritual, there are many such, to be followed only by girls, please note this my dears.

If that was not enough, the streak continues after marriage as well(for the girls). Let me explain. From past few days I am observing an old maid walking barefoot, where I wait for my bus at the bus-stop, but by then she had already crossed the road. But today I saw her a bit early, and spoke to her and requested her to explain why she is walking barefoot and here was her answer “My husband passed away a few days / a month ago and people in my village asked me to walk barefoot for one year for betterment of kids and blah blah blah…”. She continued even after me requesting her not to do this, “Its really ok now didi at 8.20am or so, but I work till 2-3pm and at that time walking barefoot in hot summer is painful, but for my husband and family I need to do this”. I tried my best to explain to her but she wasn't ready to listen so I literally forced her to start using footwear immediately and told her if someone asks give this reason “the society where I am working do not allow me to enter their house as my barefoot must be carrying Corona bugs”. She agreed, finally.

Before marriage, after getting (good) husband and after he leaves this world too it’s the girl who is following rituals even today and my dears this is just one example. There could be many. Even while talking to her and now while writing this my hands are shivering and I am in tears, just by simulating her pain in front of my eyes. OMG. Hope the grandma listens to my requests and starts wearing footwear immediately.
