"That" mirror

Just came across one data-set of videos depicting when students attend classes and thereafter how they appear for examination online. OMG. shocked to see the truth. I am sure if we show their own video to students they may feel shocked too. One of my best friend told me once, that someone should capture own driving video in real time, which will reflect how bad we drive the vehicle on the road. "That" mirror is essential to see by self / every individuals before its too late and before others show it to you.

Anyways.

Here are my findings after observing those videos:

  • beautiful ambience of the house, each and every house, awesome interior decorations, huge setups
  • students must be from well-to-do families
  • students wore branded shirts, watches, head gears, and what not
  • constantly moving
  • stretching
  • drinking water just for less than an hour exam
  • playing with their own hair, spectacles
  • dozing off
  • moving away from seats
  • making faces
  • cleaning ear
  • moving camera and its angles / positions consistently
  • going very near to the screen as if words are not visible
  • then suddenly going back and relax as if done with exams
  • by moving near screen camera shows only hair / head
  • not adjusting camera properly and hence only roof of the house / room is visible
  • barring few almost all were extremely restless, aimless etc.

Apologies for my words and observations but those few students in the videos were not so focused, serious, no urge to achieve something when everything is given already by their parents and its visible, its the truth. How on this earth these students, youngsters, young teens get time to do all such activities during exams?

During my tenure as a researcher, I touched base numeric data set, text data, categorical data, audio data, time series continuous data and what not. Images and videos analysis was left out. Hence to venture out this new domain with my own algorithm and while surfing/ hunting for a latest data-set came across this anonymous videos of students. I dont know and not sure when will I start applying my algorithm on such data, but for sure learned a lot about how students are behaving in front of the camera.

Hope these new-normal days will be over soon so that students will get back to their off screen routine effectually.
