Now at this juncture I don’t know why but suddenly recollected many firsts written on my name. Of course, when I look back, it feels so amazing that I was the chosen one for all these firsts. I was able to contribute as I had the energy to work, think, and act on it. HE and HIS plans worked wonders for me. I am truly thankful to HIM for everything.
It all started at the degree level, bestowed
with a first-girl engineer from my mother’s and father’s sides too. It felt
nice then, but it never affected me at all. After getting hitched too I
retained the same title, the first girl engineer of the family.
It was just the beginning of firsts by HIM, went
on to become “first of its kind” mother from mom’s, mother in
laws and other relatives side. Blessed with twins, a uniquely-different journey
started along with my PhD. First ever girl to work abroad, drive on foreign
roads, and earn a PhD too. Doctorate girl in all family members, first of its
kind and at the department too. Yes, there was a faculty member before me, but
he actually belonged to another department. First female faculty member from
the department to become a PhD advisor; first one to earn an international
grant from a giant like Microsoft in the department; first one whose PhD
scholar went abroad on a fully paid trip; first one who got the opportunity to
visit in person to help start a new engineering college; first one in the
immediate family to author three books in a row, one technical and two in
mother tongue. First female faculty member in the department to conduct many
research paper writing workshops continuously for many researchers in the
university, etc., to name a few.
HIS blessings and HIS wishes are behind these
achievements for sure, but in this journey along with me, he motivated all my
family members, colleagues, friends, students, and relatives to help me
consistently. All credit goes to HIM. A huge and countless thanks to all those
who made it feasible. Lucky me.
