For the first two or three days onboard, I was awestruck by the lavish breakfast spread. However, to my surprise, nearly every dish was sweet and served cold. The only warm option available was coffee. Being Indian, I enjoy spicy food, and while I initially embraced the novelty, by the fourth day, I found it challenging to sustain the sweetness-laden breakfasts.
The buffet offered an array of salads, boiled kidney beans, bread, a toaster, cereals, eggs, and a selection of dry spices. In a moment of inspiration, I decided to mix kidney beans with salt, pepper, and plain corn cereal. It turned out to be a surprisingly satisfying combination. The next day, I took it a step further, using the mixture as a topping for bread with a slice of cheese—and that was the turning point.
From then on, my mornings were a delightful experiment with spicy, customized breakfast recipes. The creativity not only satisfied my palate but also energized me for the activity-packed days that followed.
Reading that article in the daily felt like reliving those cruise days all over again. A heartfelt thanks to the author—it truly brought back a wave of nostalgia and joy, as if I had experienced the cruise twice.
