2385: Come on, Come all

I am more than happy today as I figured out two new recipes for my most favorite, go-to dish: "Misal."

It all started because I was truly bored with the same old platter and wanted to do something different. Instead of going ahead with only sprouted mataki, I opted for a mix of sprouts of my choice. Usually, Misal includes a boiled potato curry, so I made a boiled sweet potato curry in a little ghee instead.

I also love bread upma loaded with seasonal veggies as a separate home cooked dish. So, I went for multigrain bread and made an upma with very little oil and plenty of vegetables like field beans, green peas, cashews (instead of peanuts), red carrots, onions, and tomatoes.

Instead of the usual farsan, I chose Chitale’s awesome beetroot shev for the first round, mataki shev for the second, and spinach shev for the third. With fresh lime, salad, and tasty homemade chilled buttermilk on the side, OMG, it was spellbinding. Truly out of this world, guilt-free, and wholesome at the same time.

I have never said "don't go for Misal", I myself have enjoyed it countless times, but it was time for a change. Now that I have the world’s free time in my hands, it is great to utilize it this way, isn't it?

The "Twisted Misal" Recipe (Version 1)

  1. The Base: Soak mixed dry whole grains and let them sprout at home peacefully. Make a tasty gravy curry with freshly ground homemade masala in just a drop of oil.

  2. The Carb: Make a multigrain bread upma loaded with seasonal veggies.

  3. The Sweet Touch: Prepare a boiled sweet potato curry in a drop of ghee.

  4. The Plating: Decorate your dish with these three main portions. Add salad and fresh buttermilk on the side. Top it up with beetroot, mataki, and spinach shev together or as you like it.

It is a one-dish meal, a wholesome and healthy twisted Misal.

Version 2: The Fully Homemade Twist

I am making this even more homely by using a air fryer for the homemade shev variety and the oven for the bread or pav. If I feel like it, I might even use veggie-loaded red poha with the sweet potato.

All are welcome home, sweet home to enjoy this new avatar of my misal. Only one condition: inform me in advance for the required preparation please.

See you all soon!
