Might be the summer heat or just one of those lazy days, I chose not to step out and instead took help from BigBasket.
Along with the regular essentials, I ordered a cantaloupe. To my surprise, it was quite large and looked perfect.
The next day, I cut it into halves and then into chunks, only to realize it was not as sweet as expected.
By default, I sprinkled a tiny amount of bhura, the raw sugar, just the way I like it. Still, something was missing.
So, Plan B.
My mom’s simple and timeless recipe, a milkshake. Blended, chilled, and enjoyed. Problem solved for the day.
But the next day brought a new question, what about the remaining half?
This time, I decided to play a little.
Small, neat, good looking pieces.
A light sprinkle of bhura again.
Then a layer of coarsely grated dry fruits.
A touch of milk masala, rich with cardamom, kesar / saffron, and jayphal / nutmeg.
A hint of fine dry fruit powder and milk powder.
Chilled, served, savoured.
And honestly, it made my day.
Quick, easy, healthy.
No dependency on electricity, inverter, or gas, just a little creativity.
Now, the next version is already in progress.
The same fruit, the same layering, topped with homemade no sugar kulfi.
And yes,
I invite you all.
Come on, come all, let us make memories with such simple and healthy delicacies.
