Due to my age-old habit of conversing with people from all age groups, I keep coming across many interesting subjects to think, write and learn about. One such incidence happened recently and it was literally a shocking encounter for me, and hence thought of penning down about it.
I was conversing with one of the Gen-Z teens and the basic point of discussion was “only consider good points from every personality…”. While narrating an example, I emphasized on one awesome achievement of an individual as having command over English language, in addition to many other “good” personality points to notice in him.
Immediately that Gen-Z teen reacted, “so what if he is good at English? Why it’s a good point? How it will be help him or his family? Why should I consider it as good point, big deal, he went to English medium school, so he will have command over it, nothing great… blah blah blah”.
I was immediately taken a back. According to my thinking,
- Having command over any language for that matter is massive blessings, its not everybody’s cup of tea.
- Command over language is reflected in the personality of an individual as it gives a unique different confidence altogether.
- Also its extremely useful at work too, at every occasion, say presentations, documentation, communicating confidently with clients etc. to name a few.
- It similarly opens many doors for additional employment if required, translation, blogging, converters and what not.
- Almost every organization requires now a day’s individuals to write papers, articles, blogs and what not. Hence command over language will again be useful.
- It’s a great stress buster for self and others as an individual having command can twist and turn the words, give unique meanings to same common words and what not.
- Person is relaxed as he / she can concentrate on professional stuff instead of worrying at the language front.
- People like to be around such personality who are good at twists and turns of words / phrases etc. during any gatherings = popularity.
- Post retirement or during young age too he / she may take up assignments related to language as a great change.
- Linguists are artists, wonderful different personalities indeed.
- For such people solving and creating various forms of puzzles is an enjoyable activity, both in soft (online games) and hard form (newspapers / magazines etc).
- Its an additional qualification in many organizations to climb the ladder effectually and quickly.
- Command over language = extremely good memory power, and hence such people use words uniquely and frequently and in turn it helps building up on memory power better.
And the list goes on and on and on….
When I can list down so many benefits of having great command over a language why this new Gen-Z is not able to?
And it’s the most beautiful point to notice from any personality around you
Everyone should try to cautiously work on their vocab and increasing strength of their language(s), no harm and lots of paybacks for sure, for lifelong.
