2125: "Adding More Colors to Life: A Business Idea for the Festive Spirit"
After transitioning from a full-time to a part-time career and addressing MBA students for the first time, I find myself thinking differently (sort of Ripple effect). One major shift in my mindset is that I now see things from a business perspective—something I had never done before.
In India, we celebrate Navratri by embracing nine different colors over nine days. In recent years, we have also welcomed a week-long Valentine’s celebration, spanning from February 7th to 14th, where each day represents a unique sentiment—Rose Day, Teddy Day, Chocolate Day, and so on. These special days are often associated with specific colors.
So, why not introduce another week of colorful celebrations, similar to Navratri? If Rose Day is symbolized by red, Teddy Day by brown, and Chocolate Day by white or coffee shades, why not extend this idea further? On Hug Day, for example, people could choose to wear or surround themselves with a color of their choice—or even go multicolor!
This concept could evolve into a massive business model, far bigger than it is today. Instead of simply exchanging gifts, people could celebrate through vibrant fashion choices, themed events, and décor. Various industries—fashion, e-commerce, delivery services, tailoring, and more—would thrive on this idea.
What do you think? Could this modern, international twist on celebrations create a new wave of festivities, no longer limited to the younger generation but embraced by all age groups? Share your thoughts!
